LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky State Police trooper was charged with misdemeanor child abuse in Hardin County, according to court records.

Robert Moster III was charged late last month for allegedly kicking an 8-year-old Aug. 27 and causing injuries because the child left home and went to a neighbor's house without permission, according to a criminal complaint.

Moster posted a $1,000 bond and was released from jail Sept. 27.

He is not allowed to have any contact with the victim, can't drink alcohol or possess a weapon as part of his bond conditions.

A spokeswoman for KSP said in a statement Moster has been placed on administrative leave.

"Troopers are expected to uphold the law in their professional and personal capacity," she said.

Moster will be arraigned Oct. 21.

A special judge has been assigned to the case given Moster works for the Elizabethtown KSP Post and has several pending cases in front of the Hardin County judges.

Moster's attorney, Thomas Clay, declined to comment.
