LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of people enjoyed Saturday morning in downtown Louisville by walking for a good cause.

Kindness Warrior Walk at Waterfront Park was held on Saturday. The walk, which is 3,210 steps, honors the third copy of the 21st chromosome that causes down syndrome.

The event was held by Fit Body Boot camp in Louisville. It benefited Down Syndrome of Louisville.

Many people started raising funds months ago.

"There are car shows, and things at schools and festivals, golf tournaments that families do on their own to raise money toward this event," said Julie Torzewski, Down Syndrome of Louisville executive director.

According to its website, Kindness Warrior Walk has raised more than $225,000. DSL provides developmental and educational programs with people with Down syndrome throughout their entire lifespan. It has more than 1,200 members across 26 counties in Kentucky and southern Indiana. To learn more, click here.
