LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police's Interim Chief was involved in a crash in the Algonquin neighborhood on Monday afternoon.

LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said Chief Paul Humphrey was driving an unmarked LMPD vehicle when a woman crashed into him in the intersection of 7th Street and Algonquin Parkway.

Police said the woman, who was driving a pickup truck, drove into the intersection and had a medical emergency, which caused her to hit Humphrey's vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe. Humphrey was waiting to turn eastbound onto Algonquin Parkway when he was hit head-on.

According to police, Humphrey rendered First Aid to the driver until EMS arrived. She was taken to Norton Hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Humphrey was not injured in the crash.

The investigation will be handled by LMPD's Fourth Division.
