JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Louisville-area pool company owner Tracy Davenport was sentenced Monday to six years in prison after she pleaded guilty earlier this month to a slew of charges related to her business practices.
Davenport pleaded guilty to theft and corrupt business influence as part of a plea agreement earlier this month. The agreement called for Davenport to pay restitution to four families and serve a seven-year sentence: four years in prison, two years on home incarceration and one year on probation.
On Monday, the judge sentenced Davenport to six years in prison, one year of home incarceration and one year of probation.
Last year, Davenport was indicted on charges she took money from two families in Bullitt County but never built their pools. Earlier this year, Davenport pleaded guilty in Floyd County to felony theft and fraud charges. Davenport and her husband, Matt Davenport, own Davenport Extreme Pools and Spas.
The judge ruled that bond money paid on Davenport's behalf can immediately be released to the victims, which equals about $12,500. The total amount she has to pay back is $245,000, and she's expected pay that amount after serving her prison sentence.
Davenport also pleaded guilty in Floyd County to felony theft and fraud charges. Davenport and her husband, Matt Davenport, own Davenport Extreme Pools and Spas. Matt Davenport has not been charged.
Tracy Davenport also pleaded guilty in Bullitt County for two other cases and avoided a trial. Her next court hearing there is in January. She was sentenced to five years supervised probation.
Lawsuits have also been filed against the pool company. One alleges Davenport spent customer money on "lavish vacations to Las Vegas, personal cosmetic surgeries, a six-figure recreational vehicle, and the purchase of an expensive pleasure cruising lake boat."
One lawsuit alleges Davenport collected more than $5 million from about 60 families for swimming pools that were never installed.
