LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville foundation promoting mental health and wellness will hold a pickleball challenge event this spring.
The Pete Foundation will host a pickleball event on April 30 on the top of Witherspoon Garage in downtown Louisville. The event plans to raise awareness for mental health and all proceeds go toward research.
"Stigma has left us with a lack of understanding of mental illness, insufficient funding for research, infrequent use of mental health screenings, poor access to mental health care, and an inconsistent approach to follow-up after a mental illness diagnosis," Molly Jones, chief operating officer of the Pete Foundation, said in a news release. "We are going to smash those shortcomings and promote a comprehensive approach to understanding and treating mental illness, and look forward to seeing everyone on the pickleball court in April."
There will be music, food trucks, pickleball clinic, games and free play. It's open to all ages and goes from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A corporate challenge will be held from 1 to 5 p.m.
