LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Free Public Library said community support helped them meet a big milestone on a massive project.
Community members and organizations have contributed $1.5 million toward the library's renovation project.
The funding helped the library unlock a full $1.5 million matching grant from the James Graham Brown Foundation.
The Parkland library will reopen after closing almost four decades ago. The Portland and Main branches of the library are being restored, while Fern Creek will get a brand new library.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said the project will be a major boost to the neighborhoods the libraries are in.
