LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville organization is helping build affordable homes for families.

Family Scholar House helps families who have experienced poverty, unstable housing and domestic violence.

The group's new home ownership program allows participants to be eligible to buy one of its homes once they graduate the program.

The modular homes are built right in west Louisville, and assistance is available for potential homeowners.

"It's amazing because, you know, often times people may feel they can't accomplish that goal or they're unable to do it. So being able to hold their hand throughout that time, just to walk with our grads in this process, to let them know that this is possible. And not only just any home, but a beautiful home. A brand new build," Maria Wilson, with Family Scholar House Real Estate, said.

Family Scholar House has two new homes ready in west Louisville right now, with a plan to build 20 more in south Louisville.
