LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An educational program founded by a Louisville nonprofit kicked off its Nashville chapter last weekend.

The Future Healers program is an educational initiative led by Christopher 2X Game Changers, UofL Hospital Trauma Institute and students at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. The goal of the program is to help Louisville children who have been impacted by violence in their neighborhoods to build a better future.

The Future Healers are now working with doctors from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and nonprofit Stronger Than My Father to help form The Future is NOW (Non-violent Options Win).

The program held its first instructional program on Saturday.

“The kids had one of the greatest experiences with our medical partners, which gives us the joy to think about the possibility of what this expansion effort brings to allow our kids to feel hope and dream big," Marcus Meneese, executive director of Stronger Than My Father, said in a news release. "To that extent, we could never thank our Louisville, Ky. partners enough for their willingness and their true belief in our execution of this magnificent kiddos medical program that will have a phenomenal impact on our kids in Nashville."

The Future Healers chapter, known as Future is Now Nashville, in Nashville includes members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and Nashville Metro Police. The free sessions will be offered monthly in Nashville
