LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The survey results are in that will help shape Louisville's first Speed Management Plan.
The plan could lead to different street designs and policy and enforcement changes, all apart of Louisville's vision of zero roadway deaths by 2050.
A survey was used for the community to voice their opinions. More than 1,400 people completed the survey, and 85% of them believe more should be done to reduce speeding.
The plan would use crash date and population density as factors in setting speed limits, and it calls for consistent placement of speed limit signs.
The plan also calls for automated speed enforcement that would electronically read the speed of your car, but that is currently not allowed under Kentucky law.
However, House Bill 664 filed during this legislative session would allow automated speed enforcement in road work zones as a five-year pilot program.
