LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Urban League on Wednesday announced its new president and CEO.

Lyndon E. Pryor was selected in an unanimous decision by the board after a three-month national search.

"My commitment to growth and dedication to the liberation of Black people has led me into positions that have allowed me to make meaningful contributions to my community's social, economic, and political advancement," Pryor said in a news release. "But no experience has been as personally fulfilling, professionally enriching, or tangibly impactful as my work here in Louisville."

Pryor, who has served as interim president and CEO since March following the abrupt exit of Dr. Kish Cumi Price, will take the job effective immediately. He has been with the League since 2015.

Price sued her former employer over claims of retaliation for discovering potential wrongdoing within the organization. In June, the group filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Pryor will be formally welcomed during a ceremony next month.
