LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- T-Mobile announced Madison, Indiana, as one of the 25 latest Hometown Grant recipients.
Visit Madison Inc. will receive $50,000 that it said will go toward purchasing trolley vehicles. This will provide free transportation around the community as well as providing transportation for residents and visitors during conferences and special events.
Andrew Forrester, executive tourism director of Visit Madison Inc. was very excited when his company got selected for the grant.
"Trolleys have been a part of Madison for a long time, and thanks to T-Mobile’s support I am confident they will continue to be part of Madison for the future," Andrew Forrester, executive tourism director of Visit Madison Inc., said in a news release Thursday. "I am ecstatic about the opportunity that the trolley provides for our residents and visitors to enjoy all that Madison has to offer."
Since kicking off the campaign back in April 2021, T-Mobile has provided more than $13 million in Hometown Grants. The goal is to kickstart local development projects in smaller communities around the country.
Hometown Grants has also created more than 78,000 volunteer hours, bringing people together to support smaller communities.
T-Mobile and Visit Madison Inc. are hosting a check presentation at 6 p.m. EST Friday, July 12, during the Music in the Park event in Madison.
