LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A new art and cultural center is now open in southern Indiana.
The Jasteka Cultural Center is part of the America Place headquarters on Logistics Avenue in Jeffersonville's River Ridge and will occupy the second and third floors of the building, as reported by our partners at Louisville Business First.
The center is meant to act as a learning hub for the community. With more than 13,000 workers at River Ridge, officials hope it will be an accessible place for the Jeffersonville residents.
Jim Karp, CEO and founder of America Place, and his wife, Irene, donated more than 80 pieces from their own art collection to display at the center with the hopes of making people feel more comfortable in art spaces.
"If nobody's exposed to it, how do they know about it?" Karp said.
Visitors can scan QR codes next to the displays to learn more about the artists and their pieces.
The center also hosts Fine Art Fridays every Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Registration is requested but not required.
