LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A one-way Louisville street will officially open to two-way traffic this weekend.
The change is on East Jefferson Street from Brook Street to Baxter Avenue in NuLu.
Crews will open the road to eastbound traffic Sunday morning.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said the change will make East Jefferson Street safer for both drivers and pedestrians.
"Making our roads safer for drivers, for pedestrians, for cyclists, for anyone in and around while improving the quality of our neighborhoods and there are so many benefits that come with two-way streets," Greenberg said Tuesday.
Several more one-way roads are set to become two-way. The next project being considered is Oak Street between 16th and Dixie Highway.
