LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It was a wayback throwback at a Louisville church Friday evening with dancing and the crowning of a prom king and queen.

Senior citizens at First Gethsemane Baptist Church got to boogie and dance the night away at the church's second Senior's Prom.

The event started last year as a way to celebrate the elders of the church and the community.

A prom king and queen were crowned, as well as a Couple of the Year.

Members also voted for seniors in categories such as Most Inspirational, Most Scripturally Sound, Most Compassionate and Most Likely to Help.

"A lot of times, people just come on Sunday so, how well do you really no anybody? Just meeting them on Sunday," Rev. Charles D. Ford said. "So we try to be a 24/7 church, you know, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So we try to keep activities for our youth, for our seniors, just to keep folks engaged."

Organizers said 130 seniors were able to attend Friday's prom.
