LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A major investment is fueling the future of one of Kentucky’s largest auto plants.

Toyota is celebrating 40 years in Georgetown with an $800 million boost to expand production and grow its electric vehicle lineup.

The company said the investment will help bring a second EV model to the plant while increasing production of its top-selling Camry and RAV4.

Toyota is also putting millions toward building the next generation workforce; they announced $4.4 million in donations to local schools in Fayette and Scott counties and Eastern Kentucky University.

Leaders said the funding will support education and training programs aimed at preparing students for careers in manufacturing.

The move is part of Toyota’s broader push to invest in U.S. production as demand for electric vehicles continues to grow.
