LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It has been more than a year since the city of Louisville held a community meeting about the proposed rightsizing project for Brownsboro Road. Now, the city said there's a plan in place.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is spearheading the project. Michael King, director of KYTC's Office of Planning, said they've hired a contractor, and are just waiting for the final work schedule.Â
King also said repaving and restriping should begin in the next few weeks.Â
Last year, the city proposed changes to a 3-mile stretch of Brownsboro Road from Mellwood Avenue to Chenoweth Lane. Proposed changes include reconfiguring lanes, turning, parking and crossing distances for pedestrians.
The city hopes the changes will improve safety and decrease the number of crashes in the area. KYTC estimates around 9,000 cars a day travel on Brownsboro Road at Hillcrest Avenue, and 15,700 cars use Brownsboro Road at Chenoweth Lane.
