The foundation is partnering with more than 400 shelters in 45 states to help find homes for homeless pets.
From Oct. 1-15, the BISSELL Pet Foundation will host its Fall National Empty the Shelters event to help empty shelters that are currently over capacity.
The reduced-fee adoption event will be from Dec. 1 to Dec. 17 at 380+ shelters in 43 states, including several local ones around the Louisville area.
Adoption fees are being waived for cats and dogs one year and older.
Adoptable pets are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered.
Both the Kentucky Humane Society and Louisville Metro Animal Services are participating.
As part of the national "Empty the Shelters" events, Louisville Metro Animal Service offered free adoptions for dogs and cats at the Animal House Adoption Center on Newburg Road.
