A firefighter was hospitalized Saturday for heat-related symptoms after a heavy fire broke out at a home in Douglass Hills.

The Louisville Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 2700 block of Chickasaw Avenue near Brownsboro Road around 2:51 a.m. Tuesday.

Crews responded to the 2100 block of Appleton Lane just before 2 a.m. Monday on a reported structure fire.

Jefferson County firefighters held a demonstration Tuesday to show just how quickly an un-watered Christmas tree burns. 

Jordan Yuodis, spokesman for Jefferson County Fire, says some of the most commonly used fireworks are sparklers and often times they lead to the most injuries, especially in children.

They're bright, beautiful and bold. But firefighters often see fireworks in a different light.
