Thirty-eight fire apparatus responded to the scene from departments across the state.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

It happened in the 5800 block of Fern Valley Road just before 1 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters were called to the Stone Bluff Subdivision just before 10:30 p.m. on reports of heavy flames and smoke.

The Okolona Fire Department gave a quick response to the scene as they were located right next door to the home.

The National Fire Protection Association says the risk of dying in reported home structure fires is 55 percent lower in homes with working smoke detectors.

One person died in a house fire in the Newburg neighborhood on Friday night, according to Okolona Fire Department.

It took place Thursday evening.

A group of Louisville volunteers delivered care baskets Monday to area firefighters as part of the AmeriCorps Seniors Program's Sept. 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.

A person was taken to the hospital after being rescued from a fire in Okolona on Saturday afternoon.
