As we saw with the transition from Sunday's record high of 75° to Monday's lows in the middle 20s, we can have some crazy swings around these parts in winter. New Year's Day is no different! Big snows, spring-like warmth, and brutal cold are all possible when starting a new year in Kentuckiana.
This year will have some flurries in the morning and should be a bit on the chilly side in the afternoon with highs likely staying below 40 degrees for many of us. If you're traveling south for the first day of 2026, expect highs in the 50s once you get into Tennessee!
