LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across Kentuckiana.

Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024.Ā 

51st North American International Livestock Exposition

The annual livestock exposition kicks off Thursday at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. The two-week event brings thousands of people to the city each year and is considered the world's largest purebred livestock show.

The exposition showcases eight different species, including cattle, goats, horses, llamas, alpacas, hogs and sheep.Ā 

More than 23,000 animals will strut their stuff in the halls of the Expo Center. Exhibitors from across the U.S. and Canada will take their best livestock to the show ring, looking to secure the purple and gold banner.Ā 

There will also be more than 100 vendors in the North American Country Store. The exposition also includes the North American Championship Rodeo, which runs next week from Nov. 14-16.Ā 

The expo has been held every year in Louisville since 1974, when it only ran for a week.Ā 

General admission tickets cost $8 and can be purchased at the gate. Parking is not included, but can be purchased in advance for $12 online by clicking here. You can also buy tickets to the North American Championship Rodeo, starting at $10 per person, by clicking here.Ā

NuLu Jingle FestĀ

NuLu Jingle Fest will feature festive programming on Shelby St. between Market & Nanny Goat Strut, along with participating businesses offering additional sales, promotions, activities & more! Lights Under LouisvilleĀ 

An annual holiday tradition in Louisville returns this weekend. Lights Under Louisville starts Friday, Nov. 7 and runs through Jan. 4 at the Louisville Mega Caverns.Ā 

The event features over 7 million points of light everywhere illuminating the cavern’s vast spaces underground wonderland with themed displays, some of your favorite characters, holiday music, lasers and more.

Daily hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. There are special hours for the upcoming holidays:

  • Thanksgiving Day 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.Ā 
  • Christmas Day 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.Ā

Louisville Brick ConventionĀ 

The Brick Convention puts LEGO building at center stage starting this Saturday at Triple Crown Pavilion in Jeffersontown.

A portion of the proceeds from each Brick Convention is donated to Creations for Charity. The all-volunteer nonprofit organization buys new LEGO sets for underprivileged children around the world during the holidays.

Fall Meet at Churchill Downs

Horse racing is back at Churchill Downs forĀ the 135th Fall Meet.Ā 

The 26-day meet is held for the next five weeks on Wednesdays through Sundays to Dec. 1 at the historic horse racing track in Louisville.Ā 

The first race starts at 1 p.m. during the Fall Meet, except for Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 28.Ā
