LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Another street takeover is coming to Louisville -- but this time it's completely legal.Â
CycLOUvia is set to roll down Frankfort Avenue this Sunday, July 13. The event started in 2012 and focuses on promoting health and wellness, along with supporting local businesses on the streets where it takes place.Â
This year's CycLOUvia takes place on Frankfort Avenue. Cars, trucks and other motorized vehicles aren't allowed, but everyone is invited to walk, cycle, skate, or dance down the middle of Frankfort Avenue.Â
That means Frankfort Avenue from Stilz Avenue to Pope Street will be closed to traffic from 1:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Traffic will be allowed to cross at Frankfort Avenue at Ewing Lane.Â
CycLOUvia is modeled after the "ciclovÃa" program in Bogotá, Colombia, where for 30 years, citizens have enjoyed weekly car-free streets.
