LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Residents in Louisville's Park Hill neighborhood took part in a Family Field Day on Wednesday.

It was originally supposed to be held outside the Park Hill Community Center on South 13th Street, but was moved indoors because of the heat. The celebration included plenty of games like corn hole, basketball, football and more.

Community resources were also on site, including first responders like Louisville Police, EMS, Louisville Fire as well as wellness and lifestyle groups.

Jailen Leavell with the Louisville Metro Housing Authority said the event has become an annual tradition.

"For the last three years we've hosted this event right before school just for an opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the summer," he said.

The Family Field Day was hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission and Louisville Metro Housing Authority.

The event also served as a soft launch for the redevelopment of Parkway Place and a listening session to find out what community members want to see in the housing facility.
