2nd Street bridge without tarp

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Clark Memorial/2nd Street Bridge closed  Thursday morning, April 20, as crews prepare for Thunder Over Louisville. 

Officials with the Kentucky Derby Festival said the closure will run through Sunday afternoon. 

  • Thursday, April 20: 9:30 a.m. – CLOSED thru Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Friday, April 21: CLOSED ALL DAY
  • Saturday, April 22: CLOSED ALL DAY
  • Sunday, April 23: CLOSED Midnight to 2 p.m.

Additionally, the Big Four Pedestrian Bridge will close Friday, April 21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the air show practice windoWest

On Thunder Day (Saturday, April 22), the pedestrian bridge will also close at 10 a.m. until midnight. Access to the bridge will be restricted due to safety operations.

Signs will be placed on the Big Four Bridge to notify the public of the closures and restrictions.

Anyone who is planning to travel to the Ohio River waterfront to watch the air show and fireworks should be aware of the traffic updates released by city.

  • 2nd St/Clark Memorial Bridge from West Main Street to West Riverside Drive

April 22, 12 a.m. to April 23, 8 a.m.:

  • 3rd Street Ramp Exit from I-64 West
  • 2nd Street Ramp Entrance to I-64 East

April 22, 5–10:30 p.m.:

  • Kennedy Bridge at I-65 South

April 22, 6:30 p.m. to April 23, 2 a.m.:

  • Lincoln Bridge at I-65 North

Interstates closed:

April 22, 8:30–10:30 p.m.:

  • I-65 North from I-264 (Watterson Expressway) to I-64
  • I-65 South (Indiana) from I-265 to I-64 (Kentucky)
