LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One man is dead and another man is in custody after a fatal crash involving two vehicles in Jennings County, Indiana, late Monday evening.
James Pittman, 41, of North Vernon is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing death.
Jennings County Sheriff's deputies said in a written statement posted on Facebook that the crash involving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck and a Hyundai passenger car happened on U.S. 50 East, near Brush Creek Elementary School, around 9 p.m. Monday.
The driver of the Hyundai -- 44-year-old Anthony Lucas from North Vernon -- died after the crash. Investigators at the scene determined that Pittman, who was driving the Toyota, showed signs of intoxication. Pittman agreed to take a toxicology test at the scene and was arrested.
Investigators are waiting for the test results, but in the meantime Pittman is facing a preliminary felony charge of operating while intoxicated, causing death.
The investigation is ongoing.
U.S. 50 East was closed for nearly five hours for crash reconstruction and cleanup.
