LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More and more of us are getting text messages and emails that claim to be from a company about a product you ordered.
Now, the FTC has just announced which companies are targeted the most.
Best Buy is the most popular company that is most impersonated by scammers.
Best Buy's Geek Squad is a legitimate service that repairs and helps with home computer and security issues.
But, scammers are now using its name and logo to try and fool you into thinking you are being charged for a subscription renewal.
The FTC says the services most copied by scammers this year are:
- Best Buy
- Amazon
- USPS
So be aware to any email or text message you may receive regarding those companies.
Do some checking before giving out your credit or debit card number, so you don't waste your money.
