LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Remember Publishers Clearing House with the prize patrol surprising families with millions of dollars? You may wonder if PCH is still a thing, and it is!

The Publishers Clearing Houser scam is one of the most common frauds targeting older adults. Even in 2025, people are falling for it.

Younger people might not even know what PCH means these days, but seniors remember the old commercials showing balloons and big winners.

One woman was overjoyed when she got a letter in the mail saying she won $1,600,000, until she started to read the fine print. The letter stated to take the check to the bank, cash it, and send back some money for taxes and processing fees.

The scam can really persuade older adults, so it's important to remind your grandparents and others that PCH will never call or send a letter telling you to deposit money, then send some of it back.

Officials with PCH said million dollar winners get a personal visit and will never be told to send money back.
