Publix Super Market ribbon-cutting on Ballardsville Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Publix Super Market cut the ribbon Wednesday on the first of two stores opening this week in Louisville.

The celebration kicked off bright and early at 7 a.m. at Publix's new location in Marshall Commons at 10005 Ballardsville Road, near Brownsboro Road. Dozens of people were in line when the doors opened.

This is the second Publix store in the Louisville area. On Saturday, Sept. 6, the Eastwood area store on Flat Road Road will open.

The first Louisville Publix location opened at 2500 Terra Crossings Blvd. off Old Henry Road last January with long lines of customers waiting to get inside.

In addition, the grocery chain plans to open a location in Middletown, signing a lease for the old Walmart Neighborhood Market at 201 Blankenbaker Parkway in May
