LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Ford Motor Company is expanding its Louisville operations with a multimillion-dollar land deal.

The Michigan-based company purchased more than 65 acres of land for over $41.28 million, according to our partners at Louisville Business First who cited a deed filed with the Jefferson County Clerk's Office.

The land sits adjacent to the existing Kentucky Truck Plant on Chamberlain Lane, near the Gene Snyder Freeway.

The property was sold by Cincinnati-based Nine Five, which bought the site in 2018 for $575,000.

"This expansion of the Kentucky Truck Plant site is another example of Ford’s commitment to American manufacturing," a Ford spokesperson said in a statement. "It follows our announcement in August of a $2 billion investment in the future of manufacturing at Louisville Assembly Plant."

It wasn't immediately clear Monday what Ford plans on doing with the land. In 2023, Ford announced a $1.95 billion investment in its two Louisville facilities as part of a deal reached with the UAW that followed a 41-day strike across several plants, including two weeks of striking at KTP in Louisville.
