LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Wages in Louisville are up but still trail most other large metros areas, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.

The Business Journals of Bureau of Labor Statistics data found an average year-over-year weekly wages increased in 91 of the nation's 100 largest metro areas as of the end of the first quarter of the year.

Louisville wages were up 1.6% between March 2024 and March 2025, but that places the metro area in the bottom 20 for wage growth. There were only 15 metro areas with slower wage growth or wage losses in that span.

Louisville's weekly wages in March stood at $1,048.86, an increase from $1,033.90 in March 2024.

Augusta, Georgia, had the strongest growth in the analysis with a 21.8% increase. The area had a rise from $965.67 to $1,175.79 in the year span. Augusta's population has grown by more than 25,000 in the last five years.

Durham-Chapel Hill in North Carolina and Nashville posted a decline in average weekly earnings from March 2024 to March 2025.
