LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 19-year-old man is being charged with assault and driving a vehicle under the influence, among other charges, after a multi-vehicle crash that happened early Saturday morning on West Broadway.

Lorenzo Johnson was arrested Saturday following the crash, which left two people in critical condition.

LMPD responded to the 2100 block of West Broadway, near Dr. W. J. Hodge Street around 3:20 a.m. on reports of a crash. LMPD spokesperson John Bradley said police found three vehicles involved in a crash, and one of those vehicles hit a building.

In the arrest citation, it stated Johnson was driving a 2014 Nissan Maxima and ran a red light on Dr. W. J. Hodge Street, hitting a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The impact of the crash caused Johnson's vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into a building at 2101 West Broadway. The building was "severely damaged" from the crash, according to the citation.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer was spun around after the impact and came to a stop at a utility pole in the intersection.

The driver of the Trailblazer was ejected from the vehicle and transported to University Hospital in critical condition. He is not expected to survive, according to the arrest report.

The passenger inside Johnson's vehicle was also taken to University Hospital in critical condition.

Johnson showed signs of intoxication and admitted to police that he had been drinking. He received non-life threatening injuries from the crash and was taken to University Hospital.

A toxicology report revealed a blood alcohol content of .147, the arrest report said.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
