LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two men were arrested in connection to numerous armed robberies around Louisville, after a woman was pistol whipped on Bardstown Road, according to police.

Chanchiz Brown, 18, and Dontray Crumes, 21, were both arrested early Saturday morning. A third suspect in the at least seven robberies hasn't been arrested yet, according to police.

Louisville Metro Police said the men robbed women at the Mid City Mall parking lot on Bardstown Road on Friday night. When a woman resisted giving them her credit card, police said one of the men pistol whipped her.

Police said Brown, Crumes and an unnamed suspect drove around the city in a stolen blue Ford sedan with a stolen license plate.

According to an arrest citation, the men pulled into a parking lot at 5067 Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews and blocked a person's vehicle. That's when the men showed guns to the victim and demanded the person's wallet.

"A car pulled up behind them that was out in the lot basically blocking them in," said St. Matthews Police Department assistant chief Eddie Jones. "Two individuals came out of that vehicle, both had handguns and robbed them of their wallets."

They fled after taking the wallet, but the incident was caught on surveillance camera footage from Total Wine.

"This time of year people are shopping, they got cash, they got credit cards, they got the purchases they made at the stores and unfortunately they become victims for people like this who are looking for an opportunity," Jones said.

The three suspects were wearing blue COVID masks during the robberies.

Police eventually stopped the vehicle at a gas station on Taylor Boulevard. Police said Crumes tried to jump into a random vehicle to flee from police.

Brown and Crumes were both arrested at the gas station on Taylor Boulevard. Police said stolen credit cards were found on the floor of the stolen car.

"Through their investigation they were able to recover two handguns and some evidence that tied them directly to the robberies," Jones said.

Brown was charged with robbery while Crumes was charged with robbery and fleeing or evading police.

Police said robberies increase during the holiday season.

"We are getting close to Christmas, our robberies tend to go up at least for this group, hopefully this will be the end of that for this group," Jones said.
