LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police arrested a second man in a shooting in September that left a person injured in the Taylor Berry neighborhood.

Chance Guthrie, 19, is accused of firing multiple rounds at the victim at an apartment complex onĀ Sept. 30 in the area of Utah and Thornberry avenues. That's off Taylor Boulevard, near Churchill Downs. The victim was hit in the foot.

Police said Guthrie and his co-defendant, Noraion Moore, 20, were also in a stolen vehicle.

Guthrie is facing charges of assault, receiving stolen property and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Police saidĀ Moore and Guthrie were both already in custody on separate cases when they were charged in connection with the shooting.

WDRB dug into Guthrie's criminal past. The reason Guthrie was already behind bars is because of a case last month.

Around 60 shots were fired outside the Club 7 nightclub in Shively. Guthrie was one of five people arrested in what police describe as an "ambush-style" killing of 26-year-old Rodney Parker.

Guthrie was charged with murder and assault. At the time, he had been out of jail after being convicted of manslaughter for a 2021 case.

At 14 years old, police say Guthrie shot and killed 14-year-old Darrin Thiele. In March of last year, Guthrie was transferred to an adult prison because he was turning 18, but was expected to be released from jail later in 2025.

Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Annie O'Connell told Guthrie at his March 2025 hearing, "You are a young man, and it is always heartbreaking to see a child grow up in the correctional system. It's not healthy."

Brandy Beckman, Thiele's aunt, said, "You see it on the news all the time and say that's not going to happen to us and then it does and then you are like well, what do you do? How do you process that?"
