LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An Indiana father is charged with killing his young daughter.

As reported by Fox59, 41-year-old Zachary Arnold, of Indianapolis, is charged with murdering his 5-year-old daughter Zara Arnold.

Monday, the girl was found dead inside an Indianapolis home on Lasalle Street.

Police said Arnold originally told them the girl fell down the stairs, but then reportedly confessed to repeatedly hitting and choking the girl for several days before she died.

According to police, Arnold called his ex-girlfriend Andrea Lopez-Figueroa on Facetime Sunday, saying he was going to kill the girl. Lopez-Figueroa saw Arnold choke the girl more than 10 times.

Lopez-Figueroa, 30, has also been charged in the case with concealing evidence. Police said Lopez-Figueroa is not the girl's mother, and she said she didn't call police due to being afraid of Arnold.

Arnold is being held in the Marion County Jail on no bond. He is due back in court on July 28.
