LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police is investigating after a fatal shooting in rural Harrison County left two people dead and another injured on Friday evening.
According to ISP, Harrison County officers and ISP troopers were called to the 3000 block of Mosquito Creek Road for a reported shooting just after 6 p.m. Friday. That's near the town of Laconia.
When officials arrived, they located Marion Young, 56, who had been shot in the arm.
Investigation revealed that Young had run to a nearby residence to report the incident. He was then transported to UofL Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers attempted to make contact with any individuals at the residence where the shooting occurred, but received no response.
When officers entered the residence, they found Donald Ray Weaver, 84, and Victoria Y. Scofield, 82, lying outside the back door. They were both deceased.
Scofield is the mother of Marion Young, according to ISP.
Investigators believe Weaver and Young had a verbal argument earlier in the evening when Young stepped outside the home and was shot in the arm by Weaver.
After Young ran to a nearby residence to call 911, more gunshots could be heard coming from the house, according to ISP.
Investigators believe that is when Weaver shot and killed Scofield, and then turned the gun on himself.
The investigation is ongoing.
