LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A federal grand jury has indicted a Louisville man on drug trafficking and weapons charges.
In a news release, Michael A. Bennett, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, said 25-year-old Tyrone Bunzy Jr. was arrested Feb. 6 after being targeted by the Project Safe Neighborhoods program.
Bunzy was indicted on four counts including conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin, possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a machinegun, and possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking.
He was arraigned on Tuesday and is being held at the Oldham County Detention Center. If convicted, Bunzy faces a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 55 years in prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
Bunzy's arrest was part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program, which brings together local, state and federal law enforcement to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
