LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly struck another man in the head with a baseball bat.

According to an arrest citation, Willie Baldon, 62, is being charged with assault after he was taken into custody Sunday night.

The citation said officers were called to UofL Hospital around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday on a report of an assault that happened at 2200 West Market Street.

Officers talked with the victim, who told them that Baldon hit him in the head with a baseball bat after a verbal altercation in the parking lot of the convenience store.

Investigation revealed that Baldon went inside the store and behind the checkout counter to retrieve the bat.

The victim had "serious physical injury," the citation said, including a severe laceration to the head and possible internal head injury.
