LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A memorial fund has been organized for a fallen Louisville corrections officer.

Sunday morning, Metro Corrections Officer Michael Wehdah, 44, was found shot to death in the 2700 block of Cedar Street in the city's Russell neighborhood.

"Officer Wehdah had a bright future at LMDC that has been cut short," LouisvilleĀ Metro Corrections Chief Jerry CollinsĀ said Monday.

Metro Corrections and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 77 have organized a memorial fund to help Wehdah's family during this difficult time. The memorial fund has raised more than $1,500 so far.Ā

LMPD's Homicide Unit is still investigating Wehdah's murder, and are not sure of a motive of the shooting. No arrests have been made.
