LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The man suspected of fatally shooting two women in Shively last week was found dead near a cemetery late Sunday night.

That's according to a news release from Sgt. Jordan Brown with the Shively Police Department. The release states Labradford Ward was found dead around 11:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Shanks Lane. That's near the Green Meadows Memorial Cemetery.

Ward died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the release.

Ward had been on the run since July 7. That's when investigators said he gunned down 22-year-old Amia N. Cox and 26-year-old Sonita R. Simmons. It happened in the 3200 block of Kingswood Way, which is in a neighborhood off Cane Run Road near Ralph Avenue.

The release thanked the public for its assistance.
