LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Fresh produce, local vendors and affordable food options are making a return to downtown Louisville this week as the Gray Street Farmers Market opens for the season in a new location.

The market kicks off Thursday at LOUMED Commons on East Chestnut Street near South Floyd Street, giving downtown workers, residents and visitors another option for fresh food during the lunch hour.

Open from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through September, the market is designed to connect people with healthy, budget-friendly food in the heart of the city.

Shoppers will find produce grown by refugee farmers through a program with Catholic Charities, helping support local growers while bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to downtown Louisville.

Organizers say the market also features programs aimed at making food more affordable and improving access to healthy options for the community.
