LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Now that most students are out of class, summer reading programs are officially underway.

The Louisville Free Public Library main branch downtown teamed up with Fund for the Arts for its annual program.

It also features a cultural pass which allows students to take a passport and attend over 40 free cultural events around the area.

Representatives from many of the cultural venues were on hand.

"If you want to learn how to play the steel drums or something like that, we also have venues like the Falls of the Ohio State Park so you can help connect to the natural world and then you can also check out some of the books you want to read this summer for summer reading," Fund for the Arts Communication Director Tory Parker said.

The theme of this year is outer space and the reading program will continue through Aug. 1.
