LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- "The Hammer" is lending support to local students.

Attorney Darryl Isaacs and Stockyards Bank hosted the third annual Hammer's Great Backpack giveaway on Saturday.

Families gathered at Lynn Family Stadium to enjoy bounce houses, games and music, and at least 3,000 backpacks were given out - all fully loaded with school essentials.

"Each backpack had crayons, colors, glue - you know, everything they needed. But it's - I don't know, the smiles on all their faces - it makes it worth the while," said Isaacs. He hopes they can make the giveaway even bigger next year.

Isaacs said he hopes the event leaves a lasting impact. "Everybody needs an education, and you want them to go there and work toward it. I think it's a good start."

Those who attended the giveaway were also given tickets to the Louisville City FC game against North Carolina FC.
