LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There was a celebration of culture, community and joy in Highview on Sunday.
The inaugural Los Carnavales de sweet Havana was held on Fern Valley Road at the Sweet Havana. The festival celebrates Cuban culture, along with food, music and dance.
There was a parade and nearly 40 local vendors participated to showcase heritage and Louisville's Cuban community.
"We are so grateful for the community who has allowed us to settle roots here and bring so many of the Cuban community here to grow and to make businesses and to really flourish so we are just really blessed," said Nachely Martinez, a co-organizer.
Local nonprofits also donated school supplies and transportation enrollment.
