LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Ā The Regional Air Coalition is one step closer to bringing more business traffic to the Louisville International Airport.

Traveling can be a headache and airports can be a pain.Ā Getting from Point A to Point B often comes with a few extra stops in between.

"It's a little frustrating at times. I've certainly had connecting flights before, but it’s nice when you can get there quickly and don't have to transfer planes," said business traveler Allison Tracy.

Layovers can be a huge pet peeve for passengers, especially people traveling on business.

The airport currently offers 20 non-stop destinations, the most popular being Chicago, New York and Baltimore -- but many business travelers say that's not enough.

That's why Greater Louisville Inc. formed the Regional Air Coalition.

"We have an opportunity for a corporate airline to consider Louisville as a location and they would fly to destinations that are a little bit closer than some major cities,"Ā said Deana Karem, Vice President of Economic Development for Greater Louisville Inc. "That is why we surveyed our business community to see --Ā Where are the cities?Ā Where are your traveling teams going?Ā -- so that we can start working on a plan."

The survey was sent out to businesses across the region.

"Some of them are open-ended questions that ask companies where they'd like to travel," said Karem.Ā "But we're also trying to find out how much companies are spending on travel."

While the group hasn't revealed which airline it's working with, members believe the survey will help in the effort to grow and support business in Louisville.

The Regional Airport Authority will review the results from the survey next week.
