LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — About 8 million people gathered at more than 3,100 rallies in all 50 states Saturday for No Kings protests, including in Louisville.
Hundreds gathered Saturday in downtown Louisville at Jefferson Square Park, protesting no thrones, no kings and opposing the Iran War.
Protestors in Louisville held signs and voiced their concerns with the Trump Administration over the unrest in the Middle East and immigration.Â
"When we talk about solidarity, it is about the issues that matter to people," said Louisville Councilwoman Shameka Parrish-Wright, D-3. "For some, it's gun control. For some, it's about children locked in cages. For some, it's about access and over surveillance. For some, it's about food and grocery stores and having access to fresh food."
Event organizers said a core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
This was the third national No Kings rally since October. There were also No Kings rallies across the river in Jeffersonville and New Albany Saturday, and in European cities like London, Paris and Rome.
