LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Blasting is scheduled this week on Interstate 64 near the Gene Snyder Freeway.

According to a release from the I-Move Kentucky project, there will be intermittent afternoon road blocks from Wednesday, Dec. 27 through Friday Dec. 29. The rolling road blocks will allow for blasting along I-64 West.

The road blocks are expected to occur once daily and last around 15 minutes near I-64 East at Blankenbaker Parkway, I-64 West around two miles before the I-265 interchange, I-265 North at Taylorsville Road and I-265 South at Shelbyville Road.

Those rolling road blocks will start between 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, and then are scheduled to take place again around the same time on Thursday and Friday. I-Move said the rolling road blocks will keep workers and drivers safe during blasting.

The I-265 ramp from La Grange Road to I-265 North is scheduled to be closed for shoulder work starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. The closure is expected to last until around 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Motorists are asked to drive cautiously when traveling through active work zones.

The I-Move Kentucky project is working to improve four major sections of I-265, I-71 in Jefferson and Oldham counties.
