LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky travelers flying without a REAL ID or other accepted identification will soon have a backup option ā for $45.
Starting Feb. 1, passengers can use TSA ConfirmID, the Transportation Security Administrationās new identity verification system, to confirm their identity before reaching the security checkpoint. The process usually takes 10 to 15 minutes and, once approved, is valid for 10 days.
āThose who do not want to pay the $45 fee for the modernizedĀ IDĀ verification still have time to get theirĀ REALĀ IDĀ compliant driverās license or another acceptable form ofĀ ID,ā Ray Williams, TSAās Federal Security Director forĀ Kentucky, said in a news release.
REAL ID-compliant driverās licenses, U.S. passports, military IDs, permanent resident cards, and trusted traveler credentials like Global Entry are accepted. Temporary driverās licenses are not.
