LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A high school basketball star set to begin his collegiate career donated to a Louisville nonprofit's educational program to provide new curriculum.Â
The Future Healers program is an educational initiative led by Christopher 2X Game Changers, UofL Hospital Trauma Institute and students at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. The goal of the program is to help Louisville children who have been impacted by violence in their neighborhoods to build a better future.
Mercy Miller, who recently was selected for the 2024 Wooden Award Boys' High School Players of the Year, donated to the Future Healers program. Miller's foundation Lord Have Mercy's donation will enable the purchase of new medical curriculum materials for sessions that will start in August.Â
The program allows kids ages 4-to-13 affected by gun violence to get away from it all in an educational setting.Â
Mercy's father is entertainment mogul Master P. Percy Miller and his two sons, Hercy and Mercy, have led philanthropic efforts in Louisville for years and collaborated with 2X Game changers.Â
Mercy Miller committed to play college basketball at University of Houston.
"On behalf of the medical partnership, we are in complete gratitude for the role model, Mercy, as an 18-year-old student-athlete," 2X said in a news release. "He inspires and gives hope to our 4 to 13-year-olds as they keep experiencing his generosity."
Mercy Miller has signed to play college basketball at University of Houston.
