LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Hulk is teaming up with the Louisville Bats to help fight cancer.
The Bats are hosting its second Marvel super hero night on Saturday, August 11 to benefit the Krista Loyd Resource Center at U of L's Brown Cancer Center.
Fans can meet Marvel characters and the team will wear special hero themed jerseys. Buddy Bat modeled the specially-designed jerseys that show The Hulk on a light blue shirt. The team will hold an online auction for the hero-themed jerseys worn by players next week to benefit the cancer center.
Representatives from the Krista Loyd Center will be present doing cancer screenings. Dr. Jason Chesney from the Brown Cancer Center said the game is part of important outreach efforts.
"Kentucky is ground zero in the fight against cancer. We have the highest rate of cancer related deaths in the country. Our mission here at the Brown Cancer Center is to reduce the cancer-related death rate, to end cancer once and for all, not just here in Louisville, not just in Kentucky -- world wide.
The first 2,000 people at the game at Slugger Field on Saturday will receive a special edition Marvel Hulk bobblehead. Plus there are other giveaways and promotions, meet and greet opportunities and super hero merchandise to purchase.
Cancer heroes and survivors will be honored throughout the evening.
