LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some amateur boxers jumped into the ring in Louisville for a chance at a title on Saturday.
Louisville Metro Police Activities League held a new amateur boxing event competing against Columbus, Indiana and Madison, Indiana. It all led up to main bouts between Louisville Metro Police officers and Indiana State Police troopers.
"These are amateur boxers, some of the best boxers in the region," said James Dixon, an event organizer. "Some coming out of Louisville, we got them coming from as far as Columbus, Indianapolis, Nashville and Atlanta."
There were 12 amateur fights from TKO Boxing at Hotpoint Davis Arena.
The goal of the Police Activities League is to engage with officers through mentorship and programs.
